The engraver's initials MJ appear discreetly below the portrait truncation at lower right. The mirror-polished proof fields contrast sharply with the frosted relief of the effigy, accentuating the three-dimensional modelling. No crown or other regalia is depicted, consistent with the standard definitive portrait introduced for Charles III coinage. |

Part of the Royal Mint's ongoing Natural History Museum collaboration, this issue draws on the Museum's holdings of one of the most complete T. rex specimens in Europe — "Scotty," or more precisely the cast displayed in the Hintze Hall, whose original bones remain in Saskatchewan. The series has leaned heavily on paleontological credibility rather than novelty licensing, with the Museum's scientific staff involved in approving anatomical detail.
