Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse presents a central engraved townscape vignette of Wieselburg as it appeared in 1072, with a church tower, surrounding buildings, and a bridge over the Erlauf river; to the right stands a full-length armoured knight holding a spear. At upper centre, the denomination cartouche reads 'Fünfzig Heller' flanked by cherubs and heraldic lion supporters, with the numeral '50' in large figures at each upper corner. The lower portion carries the issuer inscription in Gothic script, with validity and anti-counterfeiting notices in oval cartouches at the bottom corners.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse is dominated by a central baroque cartouche enclosing the municipal coat of arms — a shield bearing a diagonal band — set within elaborate acanthus scroll ornament. Flanking ribbon banners at left and right carry the printed facsimile signatures of the Bürgermeister and Vizebürgermeister respectively. A text panel arching across the upper portion states the redemption obligation of the market community, with validity and anti-counterfeiting notices on ribbon scrolls at the lower corners. The denomination 'Fünfzig' and 'Heller' appear in large Gothic lettering at upper left and upper right.

Opmerkingen

Wieselburg an der Erlauf is a small market town in Lower Austria, and like hundreds of similar municipalities, it issued its own emergency scrip during the postwar Heller shortage — a period when the collapse of the Habsburg monetary system left small denominations effectively unavailable through official channels. These Notgeld issues were authorized under Austrian emergency provisions and typically printed locally in short runs, often on whatever paper stock the town printer had on hand.

The JPR1231b suffix in the Jaksch catalog indicates a variant within the Wieselburg series, most likely a color or paper distinction from the primary issue.
