| Obverse description | The obverse presents a central engraved townscape vignette of Wieselburg as it appeared in 1072, with a church tower, surrounding buildings, and a bridge over the Erlauf river; to the right stands a full-length armoured knight holding a spear. Wieselburg an der Erlauf is a small market town in Lower Austria, and like hundreds of similar municipalities, it issued its own emergency scrip during the postwar Heller shortage — a period when the collapse of the Habsburg monetary system left small denominations effectively unavailable through official channels. These Notgeld issues were authorized under Austrian emergency provisions and typically printed locally in short runs, often on whatever paper stock the town printer had on hand.
The JPR1231b suffix in the Jaksch catalog indicates a variant within the Wieselburg series, most likely a color or paper distinction from the primary issue.
