Flanking ribbon banners at left and right carry the printed facsimile signatures of the Bürgermeister and Vizebürgermeister respectively. A text panel arching across the upper portion states the redemption obligation of the market community, with validity and anti-counterfeiting notices on ribbon scrolls at the lower corners. Wieselburg an der Erlauf is a small market town in Lower Austria, and like hundreds of similar municipalities, it issued its own emergency scrip during the postwar Heller shortage — a period when the collapse of the Habsburg monetary system left small denominations effectively unavailable through official channels.
