Obverse description	Blue intaglio note with an elaborate oval guilloche border framing the central text. The denomination 'cinquante francs.' is inscribed in large script at centre, below 'BANQUE DE L'ALGÉRIE' and the date and place of issue 'ALGER, le…', with 'PAYABLES A VUE AU PORTEUR' beneath; Arabic text appears below the French legends. Allegorical putti and sea-creature vignettes flank the oval frame, with the numeral 50 in large format on both lateral panels and the designer and engraver credits 'H. GABASSON INV. ET DEL. 1872' and 'V. BI RIRAND SCULP.' at the lower margin.

Reverse description	Blue intaglio reverse dominated by a large numeral 50 within a central circular guilloche medallion, surrounded by an intricate oval frame of fine lathe-work. Four classical portrait vignettes — two male and two female heads in profile — occupy the corner positions of the composition. Two circular cartouches on either side of the central medallion each bear the anti-counterfeiting legal warning text. The lower margin repeats the designer credit 'H. GABASSON INV. ET DEL. 1872' and engraver credit 'J.M. BERTRAND SCULP.'
