| Obverse description | The left half of the obverse carries a green intaglio vignette, engraved by Guillaume Minguet after Anto Carte, of a peasant woman in traditional dress seated atop a large draft horse and carrying a sheaf of wheat, with harness detail rendered in fine line work. "BANQUE NATIONALE DE BELGIQUE" arches across the top in bold letterpress, while the denomination "50 FRANCS OU 10 BELGAS PAYABLES A VUE" and the overprint "TRÉSORERIE" appear to the right alongside a large circular watermark void. Signature lines for "LE TRÉSORIER" and "LE GOUVERNEUR" are placed at the foot of the note, with date and serial number in the upper corners, the whole framed by elaborate guilloche borders. |
