| Obverse description | The obverse features a full-color reproduction of Pablo Picasso's 1923 painting 'Arlequín con Espejo' (Harlequin with a Mirror), occupying the majority of the square field within a raised inner border. The composition depicts a seated harlequin figure dressed in a purple costume adorned with a white ruff collar and floral trim, wearing a characteristic black bicorne hat, and holding a hand mirror in the left hand while raising the right hand to the face in a contemplative pose. The background of the painting transitions in soft muted tones of blue, beige, and brown. In the mirrored silver field to the right of the painted image, the legend 'ESPAÑA 2023' is incused vertically in bold serif characters. Along the lower margin, in a raised cartouche, the inscription 'ARLEQUÍN CON ESPEJO' appears in Latin characters. |

| Additional information |
This issue belongs to Spain's long-running series honoring Picasso's work, timed to coincide with the fiftieth anniversary of the artist's death in April 1973. Arlequín con Espejo, painted in 1923, belongs to Picasso's Neoclassical period — a deliberate turn toward order and figuration after the fracturing logic of Cubism, influenced in part by his work designing sets and costumes for Sergei Diaghilev's Ballets Russes. The harlequin figure recurs obsessively throughout his career, first appearing during the Rose Period and carrying unmistakable autobiographical weight.
