Tsouderos's signature here predates his more consequential role: he would become Prime Minister of the Greek government-in-exile in 1941, having previously served as Governor of the Bank of Greece — the capacity in which he signed this note. The pairing with Papadimitriou places this firmly in the pre-Occupation period, before the catastrophic hyperinflation that would render all such denominations meaningless within a few years.

De La Rue produced the series in London, and the relative stability of 1939 meant these notes entered genuine circulation rather than being immediately hoarded or destroyed. That mundane fact makes used examples at least as historically honest as uncirculated ones.
