Descripción del reverso A large, highly detailed fingerprint motif dominates the central field, rendered in fine incuse lines against a polished background, symbolizing the identity and resilience of the Kuwaiti people following liberation. Encircling the fingerprint is a decorative border of arabesque ornamental devices, with bilingual legends in Arabic and Latin script. The Arabic inscription occupies the lower portion of the border, invoking a prayer for martyrs and prisoners, while 'State of Kuwait' and 'دولة الكويت' appear at the upper periphery. The date '1996' is inscribed at the base of the design in Western numerals flanked by decorative elements.

Información adicional

Kuwait's Liberation Day commemoratives were authorized following the withdrawal of Iraqi forces in February 1991, with the Central Bank issuing a series of gold pieces to mark successive anniversaries of the expulsion. The fifth anniversary in 1996 fell during a period when Kuwait was still processing billions in war reparations claims through the UN Compensation Commission — a body that would not complete its work until 2022.

The .9167 fineness places this squarely in the 22-karat standard favored for Gulf commemorative gold, consistent with regional minting conventions of the period.
