Popis líce	The national coat of arms of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea occupies the central field, depicting a hydroelectric dam and power lines beneath a radiant five-pointed star, all encircled by sheaves of rice bound with a ribbon bearing an inscription. The circular legend in Hangul script reads the full name of the Central Bank of the DPRK along the upper periphery, while the denomination '50' appears prominently in the lower field, flanked by decorative sprigs. The numeral is rendered in a bold serif style, with the unit '전' (Chon) appearing to its right.

Popis rubu	The reverse features the celebrated Chollima Statue situated on Mansu Hill in Pyongyang, depicted in profile against a background of radiating sun rays symbolising the socialist dawn. A five-pointed star appears to the left of the central motif, lending the design a pronounced ideological character. The four-digit date '1978' is inscribed in the lower exergue, with the star rendered as a bold decorative element preceding it. The overall composition is spare and monumental, consistent with the propagandistic aesthetic of North Korean numismatic design of the period.
