At the upper portion of the field, an ornate decorative frieze depicting spectators in the grandstand arcs beneath the inscription FLEMINGTON, flanked by floral ornamentation. The dates 1861 and 2010 flank a tall central winning post surmounted by the Melbourne Cup trophy, while the legend 150TH RUNNING OF THE MELBOURNE CUP is inscribed in a straight line across the mid-field. A dynamic scene of racehorses and jockeys in full gallop occupies the lower central field, above a series of horizontal lines and the denomination numeral 50 prominently displayed at the base. |
