Beschrijving keerzijde A commemorative design celebrating Queen Elizabeth II as the longest-reigning Commonwealth monarch, centred on a depiction of the historic anointing spoon used at her Coronation on 2 June 1953, with the vessel oriented vertically. Surrounding the central motif are elements of Her Majesty's Royal insignia alongside sprigs of Australia's floral emblem, the golden wattle (Acacia pycnantha). Floral motifs referencing the aromatic oils used in the Coronation anointing — including neroli, jasmine, rose, and cinnamon — are incorporated into the decorative surround. The royal cypher EIIR appears in the field, with the denomination 50 and the commemorative legend completing the design.

Aanvullende informatie

The commemorative marking Elizabeth II surpassing Victoria as the longest-reigning British monarch fell on September 9, 2015 — the date she exceeded 63 years, 216 days on the throne. Australia was among several Commonwealth mints that issued pieces for the occasion, though the RAM's cupro-nickel circulation-format release was one of the more understated responses to the milestone, pressed into ordinary change rather than boxed for collectors.
