| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse features a group of three mountain gorillas rendered in high sculptural relief in the lower left field, set against a textured raised map of the African continent occupying the upper and right portions of the design. A small privy mark circle bearing the inscription '15th Anniv.' appears to the left of the gorillas. The legend 'AFRICAN OUNCE' arcs along the left rim, with the dates '2008 - 2023' flanking the apex of the map and '1oz FINE SILVER 999' inscribed along the lower right rim, denoting the coin's bullion specifications and the fifteenth anniversary of the series. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Rwanda's central bank has issued a long-running series of mountain gorilla coins since the early 2000s, largely aimed at the collector and bullion crossover market. The "anniversary" designation here marks a milestone within that series rather than any event in Rwandan political or monetary history. Mountain gorillas were reduced to fewer than 300 individuals by the mid-1980s before conservation efforts — complicated significantly by the 1994 genocide, which left Volcanoes National Park effectively unguarded for months — reversed the population decline. Current counts exceed 1,000.
