| 裏面の説明 | The official commemorative emblem of the 70th Anniversary of Liberation from Japanese colonial rule is centrally depicted in full colour, featuring a stylised numeral '70' in which the '0' incorporates the taegeuk motif in blue and red with a dynamic orange brushstroke sweeping to the right. To the right of the emblem, the legends GREAT JOURNEY and STEPPING FORWARD appear in bold blue lettering. The peripheral legend 70th ANNIVERSARY OF LIBERATION arcs along the upper rim, while the lower rim bears the inscription 2015 · THE BANK OF KOREA · 50000 WON. |

Issued to mark the 70th anniversary of Korea's liberation from Japanese colonial rule on August 15, 1945, this coin is part of a broader commemorative program the Bank of Korea has maintained around significant national anniversaries since the 1970s. The liberation date — known in Korea as Gwangbokjeol, literally "day of the restoration of light" — remains one of the most politically charged dates on the peninsula, observed simultaneously as a national holiday in both South and North Korea, albeit with sharply different official narratives attached to it.
