| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse depicts multiple architectural landmarks of Novokuznetsk rendered in high relief against a mirror field. The central and dominant motif is the Transfiguration Cathedral (Спасо-Преображенский собор), a grand Baroque-style Orthodox church with twin bell towers surmounted by onion domes and crosses, occupying the left and central portions of the field. To the upper right, a secondary vignette shows another historic religious building, while below it a neoclassical rotunda structure is depicted in relief. The denomination '50000 Kip' and date '2018' appear in the upper field, with the legend 'Bank of the LAO PDR' inscribed along the left and lower periphery, and the fineness mark 'Ag 925' accompanied by the Moscow Mint mark appearing in the lower right field. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Novokuznetsk sits in the Kemerovo Oblast of southwestern Siberia, a city built almost entirely around Soviet-era metallurgical industry. Its inclusion in a Lao commemorative silver program is puzzling — Laos has issued dozens of these city-themed pieces aimed squarely at the international collector market rather than domestic circulation, leveraging its mint authority to produce coins with no organic connection to the country.
KM#196 is part of a sprawling series. These pieces move through European and Asian wholesale channels almost immediately after release.
