| Obverse description | Printed in dark blue and red on a cream ground, the obverse carries the title BAYERISCHE BANKNOTE in Gothic letterpress across the top within a decorative ruled border, with the denomination 50,000,000 M in large red numerals at upper left and right flanking a central dark oval guilloche underprint bearing the value 50 MILLIONEN MARK. Symmetrical vignettes of suspended flower baskets ornament the lateral panels, while the lower portion states the place and date MÜNCHEN / DEN 20. AUGUST 1923, the issuer name BAYERISCHE NOTENBANK, serial numbers, and manuscript signatures of the Staatskommissär, Direktion, and Aufsichtsrat officials. A lengthy anti-counterfeiting legend and a note on redemption conditions appear along the lower margin in small Gothic type. |
