| Obverse description | Printed in black on a light blue guilloche underprint, the obverse bears a top panel inscribed 'MILITARY CURRENCY' with denomination expressed in both Roman script ('FIVE YEN') and kanji (五圓) repeated at each corner. A large outlined letter 'A' in blue occupies the central underprint field within an arched guilloche ground, flanked by ornate intaglio scrollwork vignettes; the series and serial number designations appear twice within the central area. The kanji 軍票 (military scrip) is set within a framed cartouche at the bottom centre. |
