Nepal Rastra Bank has issued 5 Rupee notes across multiple series since the 1970s, and this 2012 iteration belongs to a long-running low-denomination workhorse that saw heavy everyday use — enough that worn examples dominate the surviving population. The watermark-only security specification is minimal even by regional standards of the period, though for a note of this face value, deeper security investment was never a priority.
