Описание лицевой стороны	Printed in black letterpress on cream paper, the note carries the island Arms vignette at top centre flanked by the legends KEELING and COCOS, with the founding year 1823 and serial prefix positioned to the upper right. A bold red circle at the upper left encloses the denomination numeral 5 in red, providing the sole colour accent against the otherwise monochrome layout. The lower portion is framed by a dotted border enclosing the exchange clause in letterpress text, dated 1902 at lower left and authenticated by a manuscript signature of G. Clunies Ross.

Комментарии	The Clunies-Ross family ruled the Cocos (Keeling) Islands as a private fiefdom for over a century, and their scrip currency was the only money permitted on the islands — workers on the copra plantation were paid in it and could only spend it at the family's own store. This was not a monetary system so much as a mechanism of economic captivity. The 1902 series, signed by George Clunies-Ross, circulated within a population that had no legal means to convert it into any external currency. The unusually small format reflects the informal nature of the issue — these were produced without a commercial printer's infrastructure behind them.
