| Obverse description | Printed in black letterpress on cream paper, the note carries the island Arms vignette at top centre flanked by the legends KEELING and COCOS, with the founding year 1823 and serial prefix positioned to the upper right. A bold red circle at the upper left encloses the denomination numeral 5 in red, providing the sole colour accent against the otherwise monochrome layout. The lower portion is framed by a dotted border enclosing the exchange clause in letterpress text, dated 1902 at lower left and authenticated by a manuscript signature of G. Clunies Ross. |
