正面描述 The right half of the note is dominated by an intaglio portrait of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah in military dress uniform with decorations, rendered against a green guilloche underprint that spans the full field. To the left of centre, a vignette of the turmeric flower (Curcuma longa) is printed in multicolour over a transparent polymer window, with the numeral '5' visible through the window element. The denomination 'LIMA RINGGIT' appears in bold letterpress across the upper centre, with the country title 'NEGARA BRUNEI DARUSSALAM' along the top margin.

备注

Brunei's polymer series was introduced in 1996, making it one of the earlier Southeast Asian adoptions of the Guardian substrate developed by the Reserve Bank of Australia. Note Printing Australia has held the contract continuously since 1998, an unusually stable arrangement given how frequently smaller issuers rotate suppliers. The 5 Ringgit sits in the middle of a denomination range where polymer has proven particularly durable — high enough in face value to circulate actively, low enough to accumulate real wear.

The Brunei dollar is pegged at par to the Singapore dollar under a 1967 Currency Interchangeability Agreement, meaning this note is legally accepted in Singapore at face value — a monetary arrangement that has outlasted multiple regional crises.
