Beschrijving voorzijde	The right half of the note is dominated by an intaglio portrait of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah in military dress uniform with decorations, rendered against a green guilloche underprint that spans the full field. To the left of centre, a vignette of the turmeric flower (Curcuma longa) is printed in multicolour over a transparent polymer window, with the numeral '5' visible through the window element. The denomination 'LIMA RINGGIT' appears in bold letterpress across the upper centre, with the country title 'NEGARA BRUNEI DARUSSALAM' along the top margin.

The polymer window element appears on the right side, mirroring the obverse transparent feature.
