| 背面描述 | Printed entirely in violet, the reverse is dominated by a central intaglio vignette of a quetzal bird perched atop a classical column pedestal, flanked by architectural pilasters and fine guilloche work. A large ornate medallion at left carries the Roman numeral "V" within layered lathe-work, while a corresponding medallion at right encloses the numeral "5". The denomination "CINCO QUETZALES" appears in a panel at the base of the central vignette, with the printer's imprint "WATERLOW & SONS LIMITED, LONDRES" below. |

| 备注 |
Guatemala's postwar monetary reorganization produced a brief transitional period in which older Banco de Guatemala plates were reused with provisional overprints before new series could be prepared and distributed. Waterlow & Sons had a long relationship with Central American issuers by this point, and the 5 Quetzales denomination carried particular weight — the quetzal had been pegged one-to-one with the US dollar since 1926, a parity Guatemala maintained with unusual discipline through the 1940s.
Provisional issues of this type were typically authorized for a defined window and withdrawn once the replacement series was in circulation, making surviving examples less common than the standard-issue equivalents from the same press run.
