| Obverse description | Purple on orange and green underprint, with a cargo ship vignette at left and quetzal bird motifs flanking the design on both sides. A black overprint records the new issuing bank name, updated signature titles, and serial number, replacing the original Banco Central de Guatemala attribution. The date is printed vertically along the left margin. |

| Reverse description | Printed entirely in violet, the reverse is dominated by a central intaglio vignette of a quetzal bird perched atop a classical column pedestal, flanked by architectural pilasters and fine guilloche work. A large ornate medallion at left carries the Roman numeral "V" within layered lathe-work, while a corresponding medallion at right encloses the numeral "5". The denomination "CINCO QUETZALES" appears in a panel at the base of the central vignette, with the printer's imprint "WATERLOW & SONS LIMITED, LONDRES" below. |
