The first deck landing in history was made by Squadron Commander Edwin Harris Dunning on 2 August 1917 aboard HMS Furious — a converted battlecruiser still fitted with a forward gun turret, meaning Dunning had to sidestep the superstructure entirely to touch down. He was killed five days later attempting the same maneuver. Jersey has issued numerous naval aviation commemoratives in this format, typically timed to anniversary years and sold direct to collectors; circulated examples are essentially nonexistent.
