| 备注 |
The Banque de l'Indo-Chine's 5 Piastres notes of this period occupied an awkward monetary position — the piastre was pegged to silver, and its value against the franc swung dramatically in the years immediately following World War One as silver prices spiked. The 1920 date places this issue squarely in that volatile window, when the colonial administration was simultaneously trying to suppress parallel metal currency use and maintain confidence in paper.
Ruffe was among the more accomplished engravers working for the Banque de France atelier in this period, and his hand shows in the intaglio depth. Duval's design credits appear on a number of Indo-Chinese colonial issues across the same decade.
