| Obverse description | Central vignette at lower left shows a harbour scene with sailing vessels and steamships; floral sprays occupy the lower centre. The denomination CINQ PIASTRES is set in large bold letterpress across the upper half, flanked by elaborate dragon-head ornamental borders at left and right, with a guilloche rosette medallion to the far right. The date and place of issue appear in manuscript below the central text, with two signature lines below designated Un Administrateur and L'Administrateur-Directeur, and the engraver's credit GEORGES DUVAL fec. and L.
