The denomination FÜNF MARK is lettered in spaced Roman capitals at the top, with STADT APOLDA in the same style below the arms. Narrow vertical panels at each side carry small text, and diamond-shaped cornerpieces bear the numeral 5; the serial number in red is printed along the lower margin. |
