A dense central guilloche vignette in Fraktur script carries the denomination FÜNF MARK in large bold letters across the middle field. Above the denomination, the issuing authority text is set in two lines of Gothic script, below which the place and date of issue appear, followed by two manuscript signatures above the printed titles of the municipal officials. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | Printed in blue-grey tones, the reverse centres on a large heraldic vignette of the Apolda municipal coat of arms — a helmeted shield supported by foliate scrollwork — set within a lightly engine-turned background. The denomination FÜNF MARK is lettered in spaced Roman capitals at the top, with STADT APOLDA in the same style below the arms. Narrow vertical panels at each side carry small text, and diamond-shaped cornerpieces bear the numeral 5; the serial number in red is printed along the lower margin. |
