| 背面描述 | At center, a full-color applied image depicts a Middle East Airlines (MEA) Douglas DC-3 twin-engine propeller aircraft in the airline's classic livery of cream and red, banking in left-facing flight. The aircraft bears the 'MEA' logo on its fuselage, rendered with fine chromatic detail against the polished silver field. The legend 'DOUGLAS DC-3' is inscribed in raised Latin capitals along the lower arc of the coin, in a clean sans-serif typeface. The broad mirror-polished field surrounding the colorized central motif gives the reverse a pronounced proof-quality finish. |

Middle East Airlines, Lebanon's national carrier, operated DC-3s from its founding in 1945 through the postwar expansion years when Beirut was rapidly becoming one of the region's busiest transit hubs. The DC-3 itself needs no defense — by most measures the most commercially successful piston transport ever built, with over 16,000 produced across military and civilian variants. MEA eventually transitioned to jets in the early 1960s, retiring its propeller fleet entirely.
This is a numismatic commemorative with no circulation role; Banque du Liban has issued several collector pieces in this weight and alloy honoring Lebanese aviation history.
