Obverse description Intaglio-printed portrait of King Gustaf VI Adolf within an oval vignette framed by laurel branches at centre-right, the king shown in three-quarter view wearing military dress with decorations. The bank title SVERIGES RIKSBANK appears at top, with the year in red at upper right and the denomination FEM KRONOR on a ribbon cartouche below the portrait. Two guilloche rosettes bearing the numeral 5 are placed at upper left and lower right, with two facsimile signatures of bank officials below the central vignette.

Reverse description Central intaglio vignette of Svea, the female allegorical personification of Sweden, standing full-length in classical robes and wearing a crown, holding a sceptre, set before the quartered Swedish coat of arms. The oval central medallion is surrounded by an elaborate wreath of wheat ears and flowers set within a multicolour guilloche border of interlocking blue and red lathe-work patterns. A guilloche rosette with the numeral 5 appears at upper right.
