The denomination 5 ГРИВЕНЬ appears in a semicircular legend at the lower left of the inner circle. Surrounding the zodiac circle on a matte ground are four seasonal motifs rendered in the style of Ukrainian paper-cut folk art (vytynanka): a snowflake at the top, a flower at the right, a berry cluster at the bottom, and a leaf at the left.
