The cross arms are elaborately decorated with foliate or Gothic trefoil motifs, characteristic of the high-medieval Swiss die-cutting tradition. The surrounding uncial legend + SANCTVS * VINCENCIVS, invoking Saint Vincent of Saragossa, the patron saint of Bern, runs between the inner circle and the outer hammered rim, separated by star stops. |
