Obverse description The inner field features a radiant sun at centre, surrounded by four figures of farm labourers rendered in low relief, each personifying one of the four seasons: a woodcutter representing winter, a sowing man representing spring, a crop harvester representing summer, and a thresher representing autumn. Along the outer ring, a circular legend in Latvian records the ancient names of the season-concluding months: SVEČU MĒNESIS (Candle Month), LAPU MĒNESIS (Leaf Month), RUDZU MĒNESIS (Rye Month), and SALA MĒNESIS (Frost Month). The denomination 5 EURO appears in the field to the right of centre.
