| Beschrijving voorzijde | Within a central circular raised field, the right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, diademed and wearing a pearl necklace and drop earring, after the Raphael Maklouf portrait. The legend 'ELIZABETH II' arcs along the left border of the circle, 'NIUE' appears at top centre, and 'FIVE DOLLARS' arcs along the right border, all in raised Latin lettering. The date '2015' is inscribed below the effigy at the base of the circle, with '70 g 999 FINE SILVER' further below in the rectangular field. The surface treatment employs a pronounced gold-coloured iris finishing technique that evokes the luminous, mosaic-like quality of Klimt's original oil-on-canvas masterwork. The rectangular format of the coin serves to frame the artwork as a miniature panel, emphasising its painterly character. This piece represents the fifteenth and final instalment in a series of fifteen rectangular silver coins dedicated to Klimt's 'The Kiss'. |
