Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse features a gilt three-dimensional depiction of the Opel Kapitän '51 four-door saloon automobile rendered in high relief and selectively gold-plated, set against an engraved panoramic cityscape combining modern skyscrapers on the left with historic European gabled buildings on the right. A stylized steering wheel logo appears at the upper center of the field. The curved legend OPEL KAPITÄN '51 (1951-1953) runs along the upper periphery, with the year 2012 inscribed in the lower left field. The series name Road Legends is inscribed in script across the lower mid-field, above the bold commemorative inscription 125 YEARS OF AUTOMOBILE along the lower border.

Aanvullende informatie

Palau has issued commemorative silver under its licensing agreements with major automotive brands since the early 2000s, producing a sprawling series of vintage car types that circulate almost exclusively among thematic collectors rather than as legal tender. The Opel Kapitän, introduced in 1938 and revived after the war, was among the first postwar German cars to signal a return to prewar bourgeois comfort — a deliberate positioning by General Motors' German subsidiary at a moment when such symbolism carried real social weight.

The 1951 model year specifically predates the major restyling of 1954.
