Issued to mark the Golden Jubilee of Elizabeth II's accession, this coin belongs to a wave of commemorative releases coordinated across Commonwealth realms and territories in 2002. The Solomon Islands, as a Commonwealth nation with Elizabeth II as head of state, participated in several such issues that year.
