| Reverse description | Central depiction of the Sovereign's Orb, a jewelled golden globe surmounted by a bejewelled cross pattée above a large faceted gemstone, encircled by an ornate beaded band with gem settings. The Orb is positioned in the lower centre of the field against a mirrored proof background, with Gothic-arched tracery of Westminster Abbey rising behind it to the upper left. A small orb-and-cross finial appears at lower left. The denomination 5 DOLLARS is inscribed in two lines to the right of the cross. |

| Additional information |
Issued to mark the Golden Jubilee of Elizabeth II's accession, this coin belongs to a wave of commemorative releases coordinated across Commonwealth realms and territories in 2002. The Solomon Islands, as a Commonwealth nation with Elizabeth II as head of state, participated in several such issues that year. The Orb referenced in the title — the Sovereign's Orb — was last used at the 1953 Coronation and is held only briefly during the ceremony itself before being returned to the altar at Westminster Abbey.
