Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse of this domed proof coin presents a complex, multi-layered design against a darkened nickel-plated field evoking the blackness of space. At lower centre, within a circular cartouche, appears the fourth portrait effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley, shown as a right-facing draped bust wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, with the legend 'ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 2019' and the engraver's initials 'IRB' below the truncation. Surrounding the effigy, excerpts of astronaut Neil Armstrong's first-hand lunar surface observations are pad-printed in fine text across the field, evoking the historic transmission from the Moon. To the upper left, a detailed depiction of the cratered lunar surface is rendered in relief, while to the right a Parkes Observatory radio telescope dish — instrumental in relaying Apollo 11 transmissions to the world — is shown in high relief. The denomination 'FIVE DOLLARS' arcs prominently along the upper border in bold raised lettering.

Beschrijving keerzijde The domed reverse, designed by Adam Ball, presents a dramatic commemorative scene celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing. In the lower field, a finely detailed effigy of an astronaut in a full pressure suit stands on the textured lunar surface, with bootprints visible at his feet and the Apollo Lunar Module depicted to the right in precise relief. Above, dominating the upper field, a large pad-printed colorized globe of the Earth — with the Australian continent prominently visible — is suspended against the convex black nickel-plated sky, conveying the perspective of the Moon looking back toward Earth. The circumscription '50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE LUNAR LANDING' arcs along the left and right borders in raised lettering, and the engraver's initials 'AB' appear in the lower left field. The domed format of the coin dramatically enhances the three-dimensional spatial depth of the composition.
