| Opis rewersu | Engraved and printed entirely in green, the reverse centres on an intaglio vignette of the Bank of Hamilton's main office building, a multi-storey Victorian commercial structure rendered in fine line work. The bank title BANK OF HAMILTON arches above the central vignette in bold lettering, flanked by elaborate scrollwork and guilloche rosettes, with numeral 5 counters placed in each corner. Dense lathe-work borders and ornamental flourishes frame the composition throughout, in the manner characteristic of late nineteenth-century Canadian chartered bank note engraving. |
