Serbia introduced a non-magnetic variant of this denomination alongside its magnetic counterpart as the National Bank navigated supplier and composition changes in its circulating coinage program during the early 2010s. The nickel brass formula — copper-dominant with minimal nickel content — distinguishes it from the steel-core issues that predominated in Serbian pocket change at the time. A simple magnet test separates the two, which is how most examples entering collections get their first proper attribution.
