Obverse description Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Anastasius I facing right, rendered in the late antique imperial tradition. The emperor wears a pearl diadem and military cuirass with paludamentum draped over the left shoulder, consistent with Byzantine regal portraiture of the early 6th century. The obverse legend encircles the effigy in Latin majuscules within the field. The portrait exhibits the stylized, frontalized tendency characteristic of early Byzantine coinage, with elongated facial features and summary drapery folds visible at the shoulder.
