| Beschrijving voorzijde | Crowned quartered shield of the Spanish Royal Arms occupying the central field, displaying alternating castles (Castile) and lions (León) in the four quarters, the whole surmounted by a royal crown. The mintmark 'P' for Potosí appears to the left of the shield, with partial Latin legend visible around the periphery on the irregular flan. The lower portion of the flan shows a partial date. Typical of macuquina (cob) coinage, the design is boldly struck but irregularly centered on the roughly cut planchet. |
