The shield is surmounted by a large royal crown in high relief. To the left of the shield the denomination numeral 4 appears, flanked by decorative rosette stops. The mint assayer initials and mint mark — M for Mexico City, Mo as the monogram, and F for assayer Felipe de Urbiña — appear in the lower field.
