The legend reads: THORVNIA / HOSTILITER OPPUGNATA ET DEO AUXILIANTE / AC CIVIBUS DEFENSA DIE XVI FEBR. ANNO DOM. MDCXXIX. The composition is entirely textual and heraldic, with no portrait effigy, reflecting the commemorative nature of the issue.
