| Obverse description | The central field depicts a detailed reproduction of Mahmud al-Kashgari's celebrated 11th-century circular world map, rendered with fine engraving showing geographic regions, Arabic script place-names, and cartographic details faithful to the original manuscript. The map is oriented with east at the top in accordance with medieval Islamic cartographic convention. The denomination '35 YTL' and the date '2008' appear in the lower portion of the border legend, while the inscription 'C. TURKIYE CUMHURIYETI' arcs along the upper rim. A crescent-and-star device flanks the right side of the border, serving as the mint mark of the Turkish State Mint. |
