Lausa bei Losenstein is a tiny rural commune in Upper Austria — the kind of settlement whose Notgeld issues were printed in small quantities for purely local use during the postwar coin shortage of 1919–1920. Austria's fractional coinage had effectively vanished from circulation by that point, hoarded or melted, leaving village councils to fill the gap themselves.
