| Opis awersu | At centre, the official emblem of the Bank of Russia — a double-headed eagle with wings lowered — is depicted in relief within a beaded inner circle. The upper arc of the legend reads `ТРИ РУБЛЯ` (Three Roubles), while the lower arc is divided into three parts: to the left, the fineness designation `Ag 925`; at centre, the date of issue `2013 г.`; and to the right, the fine metal content `31,1` followed by the Moscow Mint monogram `ММД`. The overall design is executed in a restrained, official style consistent with standard Bank of Russia commemorative coinage of this period. |

| Opis rewersu | The mirror-polished field of the reverse presents a detailed relief composition commemorating the 1150th anniversary of Smolensk. At centre stands the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, with the Church of the Holy Great Martyr Barbara (Varvara) depicted to its left; above and to the left, a two-line inscription reads `1150 лет` (1150 years). To the right, stylised outlines of the city's historic urban skyline are rendered in low relief. Along the upper rim, the mythical bird Gamayun is shown with wings spread, flanked on the left and right by figures of an Archangel and the legendary warrior Mercury respectively, recalling Smolensk's heraldic traditions. In the lower portion of the field, the city name `СМОЛЕНСК` (Smolensk) is inscribed against a decorative floral and foliate ornamental background. |
