The "Golden Girls" denomination is one of the more unusual entries in Bahamian numismatic history — a $250 face value on a one-ounce gold coin issued at a time when the Bahamian dollar was pegged 1:1 to the USD, making the nominal value a fraction of the metal's spot price even at 2000 gold prices. The Central Bank of the Bahamas issued collector gold sporadically through this period primarily to generate foreign exchange revenue rather than to supply any domestic monetary need.
KM#213 has a notably low documented mintage, consistent with other Bahamian proof gold from this run.
