Beschrijving keerzijde Central design depicts the Parliament building of the Republic of South Ossetia rendered in detailed relief, with a flagpole bearing a flag rising above the roofline. Behind the building, radiating sunrays fan outward across the upper field, symbolising independence and sovereignty. Superimposed at the base of the building is the numeral '30' within a wreath, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the declaration. The date '29 МАЯ 1992' (29 May 1992) is inscribed below the building in the lower field. The surrounding legend along the rim reads 'АКТ ПРОВОЗГЛАШЕНИЯ НЕЗАВИСИМОСТИ РЕСПУБЛИКИ ЮЖНАЯ ОСЕТИЯ' (Act of Proclamation of Independence of the Republic of South Ossetia), set against a black matte background.

Aanvullende informatie

South Ossetia's declaration of independence in 2008 was recognized by Russia, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Syria, and a handful of other states — and rejected by the overwhelming majority of the international community, which continues to regard the territory as part of Georgia. The National Bank of South Ossetia operates without IMF membership or broader international recognition, meaning these issues exist in a peculiar numismatic limbo: legal tender by declaration, collector curiosities by reality.

The Russian ruble circulates as the de facto currency on the ground. No meaningful domestic monetary system backs these coins.
